Jazz Concert: The John Blake Jr. Trio

Saturday, August 2, 4 - 6 p.m.

"Jazz is a form of art from which has its origins, spiritual heritage, and cultural roots in Africa, African American communities, and the Africa Diaspora."--The African American Jazz Caucus, Inc.

In celebration of Spiritual Strivings: A Celebration of African American Works on Paper, the John Blake Jr. Trio will make a special appearance at PAFA. The trio will create a musical experience that will engage the heart, mind, body, and soul. One of the world's leading jazz violinists for over four decades, John Blake Jr. is one of the first improvisers and composers to adapt to the modern era*. Join PAFA for this exciting concert and surround yourself with the spirit and heritage of the exhibition!

$10 General Admission; Free for PAFA members.

*Due to unforeseen medical issues, we regret to announce that John Blake will not be able to join us at PAFA this weekend for his concert. However, we are delighted to report that John Blake has hand-picked Diane Monroe, esteemed improvisational violinist and John Blake collaborator, to perform alongside pianist Luke O’Reilly and other acclaimed jazz musicians on Saturday afternoon.  Diane has previously toured with John on the African Violins Project, which took the group across the United States to cities including San Francisco, Chicago and New York.   While we are saddened that John will not be able to join us, we know that you will still have a memorable listening experience at PAFA as these jazz contemporaries bring their musical genius into our galleries.

We appreciate your enthusiasm, understanding and support!
