Miriam Schapiro: Patterns of Influence

Wednesday, May 29, 2024

12:00 - 1:00 PM (online)

A leader of the Feminist Art Movement and the Pattern and Decoration Movement of the 1970s, Miriam Schapiro (1923-2015) employs materials that have traditionally been associated with women’s crafts. Leah Triplett Harrington, co-curator of PAFA's current exhibition, Artists As Cultivators, will take a deep dive into the life and work of Miriam Schapiro, discussing her contributions to the Pattern and Decoration Movement and how her work continues to influence artists working today. Three works by Schapiro are on view in Artists as Cultivators through July 7, 2024.
