Points of View Speaker Series: The Artist Joyce Kozloff

Saturday, January 27, 2018
Hamilton Auditorium, Historic Landmark Building
$15 General Admission / Free to PAFA members

Joyce Kozloff has been a political activist as long as she has been an artist. She was a founding member of the feminist collective Heresies in the 1970s and rose to prominence as a pioneer of the Pattern and Decoration movement and her work since then has intertwined the decorative and the political in myriad ways. Kozloff has looked particularly to the world of cartography in her art, including the piece in PAFA’s collection, mining the histories and fictions of maps as a fertile ground for expressing and reshaping the world around her, both in her studio practice and her large-scale public art pieces. This program is an opportunity to hear from the artist herself about the evolution of her work.

This talk is generously supported by a gift from Linda Lee Alter and is offered in conjunction with the exhibition Beyond Boundaries: Feminine Forms.
